Avalon Quarried Sandstone Block Retaining Wall

Our client in Avalon called us needing advice on how to create some more usable space in their small backyard. We used our 1.5 tonne mini excavator down the side of the house to create access to the backyard. We then levelled out the soil, removing the excess and recycling it in the front yard to create another level area. We then dug out for a curved sandstone wall, then used our tracked dumper to transport all of the sandstone blocks and drainage materials to the backyard. We laid the blocks with the excavator, laying drainage as we built the wall. The result was a level, usable back and front yard with a stunning feature retaining wall.

A new childcare centre in Hornsby required the installation of a new lift from the basement car park to the childcare centre. Firstly, we cut and removed the existing concrete slab, and then used our 1.5 tonne mini excavator with the rock breaker to break out the rock for the lift well, and our bobcat to remove all the rock into trucks parked on the street.

Our client in Curl Curl required an extension of their current garage to accomodate a second car, and a storage room with loft. We used our 1.5 tonne mini excavator with rock saw to cut through the existing rear garage wall, remove the bricks, and then cut into the sandstone behind. We used our rock breaker to break up and remove all the rock to allow a new concrete slab to be poured and new brick walls to be built.

A large project that required extensive excavation with our 5.7 tonne excavator. Initially, we stacked and removed 60 pallets of existing sandstone blocks to be reused, and created 3 new house blocks, building quarried sandstone retaining walls, and using quarried sandstone to create a new modern finish pool in each property. We carried out extensive drainage and plumbing works, and created level usable land for each of the new houses.

To utilise space on a sloping block we created tiered gardens and a large level lawn area using quarried sandstone blocks.

This enabled the family to make the most of their large but steep block.

A project that required our 1.5t and 3.5t excavators, both with the rock saw and hammers, to create a new double garage in front of the existing house, and a rumpus/storage room underneath the house.  We had to carefully saw through the existing sandstone foundations, and then down through the bedrock to create the doorway from the new garage to the rumpus room.

A tricky under house excavation that involved craning in our 1.5 tonne mini excavator, then using the rock saw and rock hammer to demolish the existing walls, propping the floor above, and then a conveyor to take all the rubble out the front to be loaded onto trucks using our 3.5 tonne excavator. This enabled the client to add an entire 14m x 9m underground floor to their house.
